A Day of Firsts

I was almost giddy to find that I have sold my first item on Teachers pay Teachers!  A whole $0.90 worth!  Still, it was a great feeling.  Today was the first day of school for my husband and my daughter.  It was strange for me to not be going to school, too.  I kept myself busy cleaning the kitchen, doing laundry, running errands, and playing with Carter.  Oh, and watching a couple TV shows that were on DVR (but only while I was folding clothes, I promise).

My daughter, the entrepreneur, has decided to start running a lemonade stand.  With a friend, she set one up the other day and actually made $19!  I was impressed!  They also had a business proposal to set it up at the local snow cone stand this Saturday.  I am trying to decide how much lemonade we will need...

Free Electricity Lab

It still hasn't completely hit me that I am staying home this year. My hubby went to tech training and the opening PDC day for teachers in our district last week, but I didn't. It was a little strange to say the least.  I have had ten first days of school so far as a teacher, but this week I won't be there! I haven't missed the stress of getting my room ready while taking care of two kids and a husband with 2nd degree burns on his foot. I have been working hard on creating science labs this week.  Check out my FREE electricity lab on conductors and insulators here.

Beginning Blogger

As the end of summer is drawing near, major changes are happening at the Lay household. I am taking a plunge (scary!) and staying home this year with our baby boy. I am super excited about having more time to devote to my family. At the advice of a wonderful fellow teacher, I have decided to post many of my lessons/activities on teacherspayteachers.com and to start this blog. Blogging is totally new to me, but I think I will like it. More to come later!
